A Study on the status of illegal dental care in Gwangju & Chunnam province.

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to provide a guide for developing appropriate countermeasure against illegal dental treatment, a study was conducted to collect data about oral health status of people with dental care by those who has no licence of dentist in Gwangju & Chunnam province.
Among 942 subjects surveyed in Gwangju & Chunnam province, an 264 experienced people with dental care by illegal dentist were selected by questionnaire and dental surveyed.
The results were as follows;
1. The percentage of people treated by illegal dentist in Gwangju & Chunnam province was higher than that of the whole Korea.
2. The satisfaction of the prostheses by illegal dentist was uncomfortable approximately a half(50.3%).
3. The status of prostheses made by illegal dentist was mostly bad(77.7%).
4. Dental caries prevalence was higher in groups treated by illegal dentist, especially, missing tooth caused by dental caries(p<0.05).
5. The percentage of people having prothesis was some higher in groups treated by illegal dentist, especially rural area(p<0.05).
6. The percentage of people needing prothesis was lower in groups treated by illegal dentist(p<0.05).
